Illegal geological exploration and mining activities have been carried out near the drinking water basin of Tsav village in Syunik Region.
During the preliminary investigation of criminal proceedings initiated by Syunik Regional Investigative Department, apparent factual evidence was obtained indicating that three residents of Vardenis had illegally carried out activities using manual drilling equipment at unused mine workings located near the drinking water basin of Tsav village.
Public criminal prosecution has been initiated against the three individuals. It should be recalled that on September 14, the Ministry of Health reported that mercury levels in water samples from Tsav settlement exceeded the permissible threshold.
