A leak occurred from the tailing pipe of Kapan Ore Processing Combine from Syunik Region. As Nature Protection Ministry informed EcoLur, over 1800 cum area has been polluted. Currently it’s being studied to what extent damage was caused to environment. Administrative proceedings have been initiated.
Kapan Ore Processing Combine CJSC is owned by Russian “Polymetal International” Company, which in 2016 purchased the shares of “Dundee Precious Metals” Company. Leaks from this tailing pipe bear regular nature.
Reminder: in 2012 the tailing pipe leaked twice and polluted 288 cum area and the company was fined in the amount of 2,880,000 AMD.
