Extraordinary Meeting in Parliament on Adopting Bill on Additional Water Intake from Sevan

On the initiative of RA Government, an extraordinary session will be convened in the National Assembly to adopt the draft law on additional water intake from Lake Sevan in the first and second readings at 11:00 am on August 17.

"On approving or considering urgent the draft law “On annual and complex programs of restoration, preservation, reproduction and use of Lake Sevan ecosystem” draft law proposed to make additional water intake of 75 million cim water from Lake Sevan making it 245 million cum.

If this draft law is approved, it could pose new risks to Lake Sevan ecosystem: S.O.S. Sevan initiative recently called on the Government and the National Assembly to withdraw this bill.

 It should be noted that as of August 15, 168.244 million cubic meters of water have already been released from Lake Sevan. The level of the lake is 1900.67 m, which constituted 1900.72 m on the same day last year.
