Planned Not to Allocate Money from State Budget for Protection of Lake Sevan Ecosystem

RA Environment Ministry circulated "On Amendments and Additions to the Law on Lake Sevan" draft law on e-draft.am website.

It is proposed not to allocate any more money from the state budget for the restoration, preservation, reproduction, normal development and use of the ecosystem of Lake Sevan, other money should be allocated from sources not prohibited by the law, from foreign countries, international organizations, as well as from collections, donations, etc. by legal and natural persons.

EcoLur considers this amendment unacceptable, because Lake Sevan is an object of strategic significance for RA and for its conservation, ecosystem restoration and sustainable use, the state should play a primary role, including financial allocations combined with allocations from other sources not prohibited by legislation.

EcoLur has uploaded its concerns and recommendations to www.e-draft.am website.
