In reply to EcoLur’s demand to stop the illegal construction of a SHP on the Argitchi River (Gegharkounik Region) Nature Protection Ministry advised to apply to the local administration that approves the permit for construction. At the same time, the substantiation of the demand said that the water usage permit issued to “Hydrocorporation” LLC from the Ministry in 2004 was expired and was considered null and void. That is the company carries out illegal activities, which should be controlled by the environmental inspection. The ministry reply letter for this part of EcoLur’s statement says that the investigation process is still in progress.
It should be noted that the investigation process of the situation with the Argitchi Rives has been lasting from the summer and so far this investigations hasn’t had any findings.
Conclusion: the competent bodies of Nature Protection Ministry are not able to accomplish such simple actions for such a long term and to look into to what extent the carried out activities comply with or don’t comply with this document. Or Nature Protection Ministry, for unknown reasons, avoids performing its functions of control over “Hydrocorporation” LLC on the Argitchi River. EcoLur proposes the administration of Nature Protection Ministry to bring to justice those inspection employees who are incapable of performing the actions assigned to them and to publicize the outcomes.
