EcoLur has received an alarm signal that the level of Lake Sevan has drastically decreased these days. As Vanik Gabrielyan and Anna Martirosyan studying the vegetation of Lake Sevan informed us they arrived at Shorzha shore on 9 October. Carrying out studies in the littoral area, they went to the same place in the lake on the stones several times. “During two days we noted that the level of the water drastically decreases which is clearly obvious from the stones getting out of water. We can’t exactly say how much the level has decreased, as we are not hydrologists and we don’t have devices to measure, but we are concerned, as we can remember the statement of the officials made last year, that the lake increases too fast and the level must be managed,” they said in their phone talk with EcoLur.
According to the governmental resolution, water outlets from Lake Sevan were limited with 170 cubic meters this year and were officially stopped starting from September.
EcoLur is making a request to “ArmHydoMet” Service requesting to provide fluctuations of Lake Sevan for September and the first half of October 2015.
