Electricity due to Cycling: Armenia Took Part in Earth Hour 2022 Global Campaign

Generation of electricity as a result of riding a bicycle, clothes defile from wastes with lights off: Armenia participated in "Earth Hour 2022" world campaign. These events, organized by WWF Armenia on March 26, 2022, at Eco-epicenter of Armen Takhtajyan Institute of Botany, NAS RA, had one goal: to emphasize the importance of caring for the planet. The goal of this global awareness campaign is to bring together the public, the business world, communities, and all stakeholders around the idea of ​​turning off the lights for an hour in order to conserve the planet's living conditions and resources.

The environmental event at Eco-Epicenter started with thematic talks and seminars, during which WWF-Armenia Director Karen Manvelyan, vlogger Hayk Mkrtchyan, Arusik Mktchyan (DJ Vaccine) and representatives of "Eco Garbage" NGO made presentations. Thanks to the electricity produced by the participants' bicycles with the help of special equipment, it was possible to operate the mixer and entertain the participants with the obtained fresh juice. During the display of clothes made of waste, the lights of the Eco-epicenter were turned off for an hour to save electricity, thus slightly reducing the damage to the planet.

During the day, many games-surprises, quizzes and interesting surveys were organized by the young ambassadors of WWF-Armenia, who told the participants about the mission of "Earth Hour". The active participants received gifts prepared by WWF-Armenia.
