A fire broke out in the municipal landfill site in Yerevan the other day. The fire-rescue teams of the Rescue Service of RA Ministry of Internal Affairs are working in the area of Nubarashen landfill site to extinguish the fire.
Taron Gevorgyan, Head of Information Department of Yerevan Municipality, told EcoLur in this regard: "The outbreak is localized, further spread is prevented. For several days now, hundreds of machines have been carrying out soil covering works in the area. These works will continue so that we do not face such a problem again and minimize the risks of landfill site operation."
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
