After the presidential elections 'Deno Gold Mining Company' intends to develop the gold-polymetallic mine in Shahumyan in opencast manner, said Lawyer-ecologist Arthur Ghazaryan. 'Under the information we have, the volume of ores will be adequate to the volume of Teghout wastes in case of opencast development of Shahumyan mine,' said Arthur Ghazaryan.
The issue of opencast development of Shahumyan mine is in public focus. 'Deno Gold Mining Company' intends to develop the gold-polymetallic mine in Shahumyan in opencast manner since 2009. The opencast development of the mine will cause great damage to Kapan Town, Syunik Region, as it is mostly situated in the administrative region of Kapan. The population in Kapan and NGOs drastically oppose to the opencast development of the mine.
