Five-MW Solar Photovoltaic Plant To Be Built in Mets Masrik Settlement

“Mets Masrik LLC submitted to the Ministry of Environment the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report for building a 5 MW solar photovoltaic plant in the territory of Mets Masrik settlement in Vardenis Community, Gegharkunik Region.

On January 29, 2025, the second public hearing on the EIA report and work project will be held at the residence of Administrative Head of Mets Masrik settlement.

According to the EIA report, the station will be built under the right of ownership on a plot of land owned by “Mets Masrik” LLC.

The total area of the area makes up 6 ha. According to the state registration certificate for real estate, the intended importance of the land is energy, transport, communication, utility infrastructures, and the operational significance is energy.

The capacity of the fertile layer of soil of the requested area for the solar plant is large: 0.4-0.6 meters.

The power generation license granted to “Mets Masrik” company is until 2045. The solar plant is scheduled to operate for 20 years if no decision is made to extend the operation.

The generator part of the photovoltaic plant is planned to be built with 8880 multi-crystal photovoltaic panels each with a maximum power of 630 W, which are connected by cables to the main receiving shields of the substation with a voltage of 0.8 kV.

According to the report, photovoltaic panel waste may occur during the operation phase of the solar station.

After the expiration of the service life of the modules at the stage of operation or in case of their damage, these modules will be dismantled, which will be accumulated in a metal wagon cabin in a closed storage building in the area until delivery to the relevant organizations,” the report states.

It should be mentioned that “Masrik-1" solar photovoltaic station with a rated capacity of 55 MW of industrial use is also built in Mets Masrik settlement.
