Ban on Sale of Polyethylene Bags, Single-Use Plastic Tableware and Containers from 2027: Ecolur’s New Video
From January 1, 2027, polyethylene bags and sacks, single-use plastic tableware, as well as foam plastic containers and sticks will no longer be sold in Armenia. These changes are envisaged by amendments to Law “On Trade and Services” and related legislation.

The ban will apply to retail outlets, public catering facilities, fairs, and other points of sale. It should be recalled that since 2022, a ban has already been in force on polyethylene bags with a thickness of up to 50 microns, which was considered a transitional phase.

In Ecolur’s new video, Lusine Avetisyan, Head of Strategic Policy Department of RA Ministry of Environment, explains the scope of the ban, as well as the exceptions and alternative solutions being proposed.
