Larisa Paremouzyan, the Hetq
In the Soviet period the wastes produced by “Prometey” chemical factory in Vanadzor (at present “Vanadzor ChemProm” LLC) in the course of ammonium production were collected in the waste collector located in the town suburbs.
The Aarhus Center in Vanadzor together with the Hetq decided to find out the situation the waste collector is in. Most of pipes in drainage system of the waste collector were missing, while it means water coming from mountains flow into the waste collector and getting mixed with toxic substances, then flow out. This structure is not fenced and there are no signs warning about its hazard.
