Ashnak village in Aragatsotn Region was once known as the center of viticulture and horticulture. However, as a result of climate change, the water sources in the village have dried up, and there are no sufficient conditions for economic development. Lack of water has caused the decline in agriculture. Residents use the drinking water for irrigation and sanitary purposes. However, even this is not sufficient. The village lacks jobs, which has become one of the reasons why villagers leave Ashnak. Residents mainly see the development opportunities of the village in tourism. In the video by EcoLur, residents talk about the village's problems and prospects for development.
The video was made by “EcoLur” NGO within the framework of “Impacted communities and civil society organizations as participants in the introduction of socio-ecological culture in the energy and climate change policies of Armenia” project implemented by "EcoLur" Informational NGO. The project is implemented with the support of UNDP/GEF Small Grants Programme and “EU4Climate” regional project.
