It’s not a secret that Ararat Valley is in disastrous situation and the main cause of the disaster is fish farms. Having a look at the colossal fish farms in the valley we have the impression these are not fish farms, but lakes, and it’s already not surprising that the community residents in Ararat Valley have been left without water.
“None of the fish farms in Ranchpar community is owned by the residents, they are employed their as workers with daily pay of 5000 AMD,” said Ararat Aarhus Center Coordinator Hripsime Sargsyan, “We found out that the residents still don’t experience any water problems, as all the houses have artesian wells nearby and can use the water as much as they need to. Nevertheless, the villagers realize the disastrous situation they will find themselves after several months, just so far they don’t want to voice, unless there is a problem.”
