State and business are not concerned with the absence of cleansing structures and waste water discharge system in Kapan.
For long time waste water in Kapan is discharged into the Voghji River because of bad state of the sewerage system. The dilapidation of the sewerage system in the town is one of the biggest environmental issues for Kapan Community, especially in summer hot weather. This question was discussed for many times, nevertheless, it was impossible to make progress through only conservations.
After investigations conducted by local “For Ensuring Ecological Safety and Developing Democracy” NGO, it found out: “Cleansing structures located in 5 km from Kapan don’t operate already for many years. Waste water is discharged into the Voghji River which is a sewerage system for “Armwterwaste” CJSC that leads to environmental issues in the town.”
