Filtration at Aeratsia station is still conducted mechanically, but even mechanical filtration is partial, whereas it needs biological and chemical purification.
The station located on a territory of 66 ha uses only 30% of its territory, while the rest is littered. The waste water from Yerevan, Abovyan, Charentsavan, Byureghavan and Nor Hatchn, Arzni and Yeghvard is cleaned here.
The station was put into service 47 years ago, a two-year renovation program is planned in 2011 that will consist of three stages at the expense of a lax credit of 1.4 ml Euro granted by the French Government.
