On 19 March the public hearings on the construction project of “Nane” SHP submitted by “AratesEnergy” LLC were held in Hermon Village Municipality on 19 March. The public hearings were participated by Nature Protection Ministry Expert Zaruhi Zurnachyan, SHP developer Stepan Papikyan, Hermon Village Head Gay Ohanyan, “AratesEnergy” LLC Representative David Ohanyan, locals and EcoLur working group.
As “EcoLur” Informational Ngo President Inga Zarafyan informed form the spot of the public hearings, the villagers support the SHP construction, as creation of 8 working places is very important for them.

The SHP will be constructed on the Aysas River, which will be the second SHP on this river; the first one has been operating for a long time.

As SHP construction project says, the Aysas River is the right tributary to the Kara-Kaya River. Its total length is 12 km, while total drainage basin is 33.2 km2. This territory has oak trees, beech trees and other tree species, as well as you can meet vertebrates and invertebrates there.

‘…At the construction works the vegetation cover on the spots designed  for digging the bases of SHP builing and pipeline trenche will be destroyed, as well as several bushes will bec ut down, which won’t have any essential impact on environment. The construction of the SHP building and pipeline may have a negative impact of land animals in terms of the loss of their nesting places.’

...The economic damage caused to nature due to the construction of ‘Nane’ SHP will make up 369529 AMD per year,” the project says.
