In Yerevan downtown, exceeding the maximum permissible concentrations of dust (MPC) does not stop. If in other administrative districts of the capital, in particular, in Shengavit, Arabkir and Nor Nork, the excesses of dust emissions were recorded on separate days in November, 2023, then the excesses were recorded every day in Kentron administrative district in Yerevan (Lusavorich-Agatanghegos intersection) according to the data provided by "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" SNOC.
In order to reduce dust emissions, according to the decision of Yerevan Municipality, during the construction of buildings and structures, the structure must be covered with a net of 180 grams/square meter density corresponding to the height of the construction. Installation of air quality monitoring equipment with access to an online platform and the ability to calibrate their data by the community should be ensured. The decision entered into force on September 1, 2023. However, it is still not fully enforced by businessmen.
The special devices that should be used to receive information about air pollution around the construction sites have not yet been installed.
