The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure has extended the term of the soil management right of "Lydian Armenia" CJSC.
Accordingly, Amulsar gold-bearing quartzite mine was handed over to "Lydian Armenia" CJSC for temporary possession and use until March 25, 2039 instead of January 1, 2036. The construction period has been extended until August 28, 2024 instead of June 1, 2021.
The amendment to soil management use contract was made on September 19, 2022.
Thus, "Lydian Armenia" company is the first mining company that took advantage of RA Law "On Making Additions and Amendments to Mining Code" by extending the term of its soil management right without a new environmental expert assessment.
Civil society has repeatedly opposed the adoption of this law, considering it a step back from democracy.
