“Geoteam” Company administration stated that Amoulsar gold mine, which is located next to Jermuk, will be exploited with heap leaching method, which doesn’t generate processing tails and tailing dumps. However, what is “Heap leaching”?
One of the advantages of this method is no need in large investments; gold extraction cost price is rather low with minimum environmental impact. Nevertheless, it can’t be said that environmental impact is missing completely. The main hazard poses to water resources, i.e. rivers and underground waters, but this hazard can be minimized through special preventative measures.
