On August 20, a large protest demonstration dedicated to the preservation of Amulsar was held in the capital, Yerevan.
During the same period, the employees of the security company hired by Lydian Armenia CJSC hit several Jermuk residents and moved the car of one of the residents near the guard point leading to Amulsar, taking advantage of the fact that most Jermuk residents had arrived by car in Yerevan to attend the protest demonstration dedicated to the preservation of Amulsar. A large number of residents gathered near the guard point leading to Amulsar. Within the framework of the protest demonstration held in Yerevan, the participants of the protest demonstration handed a demand-letter to the representative of RA Government, which says:
“WE ARE DEMANDING:
To recognize the positive expert opinion issued by the previous corrupt government in 2016 (as a professional and legal substantiation, the expert reports by ELARD and TRC companies, as well as the substantiation of Nature Protection and Mining Inspection body are more than sufficient). Any other intermediate action on the basis of which the life of this mining project will be extended will be a gross violation of RA laws and breaking the promise given by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to conduct an impartial international expert assessment.”
