Area Mapping and Boundary Adjustment To Be Carried out To Grant Environmental Status to Hrazdan Gorge

Area mapping and boundary adjustment will be carried out in order to grant environmental status to Hrazdan Gorge, as Head of Environmental Protection Department Gevorg Nazaryan said during the administrative meeting of Yerevan Municipality held on August 1, 2022.

"One of the priority steps to prepare a draft government resolution and submit it to the government for discussion is the complete mapping of the territory and the adjustment of the borders,” Gevorg Nazaryan mentioned. Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan proposed to the Environmental Protection Department to prepare a technical specification within two weeks to understand what specific steps need to be taken.

During the consultation, the efficiency of the cleaning works of the littoral areas of Yerevan Lake and Hrazdan River was also discussed.

Department Head responded to Mayor's question whether the Hrazdan river also needs a station similar to the Yerevan lake solid waste collection station: "If there are 1-2 stations, it will be good." Hrachya Sargsyan instructed to increase their number during this year.
