In the building of Presidium of National Academy of Sciences of RA, Ivan Gabrielyan, Head of Paleobotany Department of Botany Institute named after Armen Takhtajyan of NAS RA, discovered traces of ancient animals and plants in the floor, stairs and marbles.
The floor and stairs of the first floor of NAS Presidium building are lined with black tiles extracted from Khor Virap marble of Paleozoic Age (359-350 million years ago) sites. The floor of the second floor is lined with Ijevan marbled limestones, which originated from the Mesozoic Cretaceous (about 80 million years ago) floor limestones of the Mesotethys Ocean.
He noted that today paleontology can answer many questions about climate change.
