Satellite Sensor Placed on Tawny Eagle For First Time in Armenia

For the first time in Armenia, a satellite sensor has been installed on a rock, which makes it possible to study its movement and behavioral characteristics. The Armenian branch of the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU) disseminated a press release in this regard.

"Our specialists have successfully placed a satellite sensor on the bird, which allows to study the hum, local movements, behavioral characteristics, other interesting facts related to the ecology and biology of the species, to highlight some of the threats, for example, electric poles and wires dangerous for the bird, etc." the press release says.

It is planned to release the bird into the wild in a few days. According to the press release, the works were carried out in cooperation with RA Environment Ministry within the framework of "Bird of the Year" public campaign and "Research and Conservation of Birds of Prey in Armenia" program.
