Over 1 Billion Drams of Damage Caused To Biodiversity in 2023

RA Nature Protection and Mining Inspection Body has summarized the annual report of the activities carried out in the field of biodiversity in 2023. According to the report, 6 inspections were carried out last year, 5 in forestry, and 1 in specially protected areas of nature.

As a result of inspections, 1024 cases of violation of law were found, 250 administrative penalties and 24,120,000 AMD fines were imposed.

According to the official report, 14,374 illegally felled trees and 2,248 cubic meters of illegal timber were transported. 1,273,384,433 AMD of damage was caused to the environment. 119 wild animals were illegally hunted, 21 wild animal keeping rules were violated, namely 1 tiger, 9 bears, 5 monkeys, 6 Mediterranean turtles. 8 weapons were seized in 2023.

Within the scope of joint measures implemented during the spawning period of whitefish in Lake Sevan, 2,433 kg of whitefish, 3 swimming vessels, 227 fishing nets, 23 crab traps were seized, and 5 criminal cases were opened.
