Measures Developed to Advance Intensive Crop Production and Intensive, Pedigree Livestock Breeding

The Republic of Armenia aims to develop intensive crop production and intensive, pedigree livestock breeding. To achieve this, Action Plan for Ensuring Economic Development in the Agricultural Sector of Armenia for 2023-2026 has been revised. Several new measures have been added, focusing on pasture improvement and the development of intensive, pedigree livestock farming.

Development of Intensive Crop Production

According to the document, approximately 1,000 hectares of intensive orchards will be established annually, and around 100 hectares of intensive orchards will be equipped with hail protection nets.

Additionally, advanced irrigation technologies are to be introduced on about 1,000 hectares of land each year. In the viticulture sector, a register of vineyards will be created, containing agronomic profiles for approximately 13,000 hectares of vineyards and a database of about 12,000 grape-growing farmers

Development of Intensive, Pedigree Livestock Breeding

Support programs will be implemented to facilitate the purchase of pedigree animals, assist in the construction of “smart” livestock buildings, and increase the production of high-quality commercial honey through 50% cost reimbursement.
