A draft decision has been proposed to impose a six-month ban on the export of whitefish roe from the territory of Armenia, with the aim of ensuring the natural reproduction of whitefish, as RA Ministry of Environment informs.
To assess the natural reproduction of whitefish in Lake Sevan in 2025–2026 and clarify the timing of its spawning stages, specialists from the Ministry of Environment, “Sevan” National Park SNCO, and the Scientific Center of Zoology and Hydroecology of the National Academy of Sciences carried out scientific fishing from December 2025 to February 6, 2026.
To ensure the natural reproduction of whitefish, enhanced measures are implemented every year from the end of November through February of the following year to prevent illegal fishing during the whitefish fishing ban period.
The draft proposes imposing a six-month ban on the export from the territory of the Republic of Armenia of whitefish roe originating in the Republic of Armenia and belonging to the salmonid family, classified under EAEU FEACN codes 0302 91 000 0, 0303 91, 1604 32 001 0, and 0511 91 901 9.
