'Development of Local Economy and Infrastructures' program will launch this year. According to the program, the infrastructure services and institutional capacities should be improved in Lori, Vayots Dzor, Kotayq, Ararat and Syunik Regions to improve the contribution of the tourism sector. It's planned to rehabilitate building fronts, public areas, museums, roads and water bodies to ensure the investments into tourism services.
The following centers have been selected to improve tourism destinations: Garni Temple and Gorge, Geghard, Khor Virap, Areni, Mozrov Caves, Zorats Stones, Kndzoresk, Haghpat and Sanahin.
'Development of Local Economy and Infrastructures' program will be implemented by Territorial Development Foundation of Armenia and Armenia Development Foundation: the total value of the program is 68 million USD, out of which 55 million USD is a loan from the World Bank and Armenia will co-fund in the amount of 13.75 million USD.
