In 5 years Yerevan Zoo will completely comply with international standards. This statement was made by Hayk Balyan, Amsterdam Zoo “Artis” Director Hayk Balyan on his meeting with journalists on 29 April.

"Yerevan Zoo needs drastic changes: this is a long and  laborious work needing big investments, nevertheless the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums is willing to  assist in his affair,” he said. Balyan noted “Artis” Zoo will give a helping hand as well.

Private Zoos mustn’t turn into a prison for animals. This statement was made by Yerevan Zoo Director Ruben Khachatryan when he commented the contradictory story with the private zoo in Hrazdan where zoo animals are deprived of proper care and food. “There are private zoos, which are actually places where animals suffer. Our duty is to prevent setting up such prisons, where all the conditions for animal maintenance are violated.   People must understand they can’t make money on wildlife representatives,” said Khachatryan in his meeting with journalists.
