The Biodiversity Conservation Targets of the Republic of Armenia and the Action Plan for 2026–2030 envisage promoting the green development of cities and settlements. Target 14 of the document, which contains 30 targets, is dedicated to this objective.
Under this target, the only planned action is to expand the green spaces of Yerevan by at least 2 square meters per resident by 2030.
It should be noted that, according to the Yerevan Master Plan adopted in 2024, the amount of public green space in Yerevan stood at 8.3 square meters per capita as of 2024.
It should also be noted that the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends a minimum of 9 square meters of green space per person, while 50 square meters per person is considered the optimal standard.
