1.7 Million AMD in Fines Imposed for Dust Emissions at Construction Sites in Yerevan
Violations of ambient air protection standards have been recorded at construction companies operating in various administrative districts of Yerevan. According to data from the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body (EPMIB), the total amount of fines imposed on economic operators as a result of inspections conducted between July 27 and August 13 amounted to  1.7 million AMD.

The EPMIB carried out the inspections to prevent air pollution, reduce dust emissions from construction sites, and in response to complaints raised by citizens.

During the inspections, violations of ambient air protection standards were recorded at a number of construction companies. Violations were identified at METTA GROUP LLC, at the site of activity of Ara Levoni Ter-Minasyan, POSTERUM LLC, ML MINING LLC, AVA HOLDING 2017 LLC, VB CONSTRUCTION LLC, 360 PANORAMA LLC, PRETOR LLC, BIDEK LLC, BIPLAN LLC, ORD DEVELOPMENT LLC, and ZEYTUN SARCARAN OJSC.

The violations identified mainly concerned the failure to implement measures to prevent the spread of dust at construction sites. In particular, dust-control equipment was not used during grinding operations; construction sites were not regularly watered in conditions of above-zero air temperatures; piles of sand at construction sites were not covered with impermeable sheeting; and, in some cases, the required fencing was also absent.

According to the Inspection Body, work being carried out in violation of environmental requirements was immediately suspended. Administrative offense reports were drawn up in relation to the violations identified, and legally prescribed penalties were imposed on the responsible economic operators.

The EPMIB informs that inspections and enforcement measures are continuing.
