Winning Women in Prize Award "Climate Change and Women in Armenia"

"Climate Change and Women in Armenia" Award was held for the first time in Armenia on April 5, 2022, which aimed to recognize the contribution and leadership of women in climate change mitigation and adaptation measures and solutions.

The award ceremony was organized by RA Environment Ministry in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and the Women's Council of the Republic of Armenia. “Women in Climate and Energy” NGO was responsible for the organization of the awards ceremony.

RA Deputy Environment Minister Anna Mazmanyan, UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia Natia Natsvlishvili, Acting Head of Department of Human Trafficking and Women's Issues of RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs Erna Antonyan, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Armenia H. E. Mr. John Gallagher, Deputy Ambassador of Egypt in Armenia Mohammad Salah and Diana Harutyunyan, UNDP Climate Change Coordinator, as well as Nune Saqanyan – President of “Women in Climate and Energy” NGO.

Diana Harutyunyan: "These women have made great contributions and opened up new avenues for energy efficiency by creating new financial mechanisms for adaptation."

The award was presented in six categories: Climate Change Mitigation Solutions, Climate Change Adaptation Measures, Climate Coverage, Climate Education for All, Climate Financing and Innovation Solutions and Youth in Climate Action. 100 applications were received to participate in the award ceremony, out of which the authors or teams of the six best projects were awarded prizes.

Astghine Pasoyan was recognized the winner of "EU for Armenia Sustainable Energy" project in “Solutions for Climate Change Mitigation" category.

Nune Sarukhanyan's "Training" and "Establishment of Farm Field Schools" small grant project was awarded in "Climate Change Adaptation Measures" category.

The winner in "Climate Issues Coverage" category was Anahit Tarkhanyan with her "Green Energy - Sustainable Air Companion" project. Hripsime Mkrtchyan was awarded in "Climate Education for All" category for her "No Garbage" actions.

The winner of "Climate Financing and Innovation Solutions" nomination was Nune Harutyunyan and Women team with their EU Regional Environment Program's "Resource Efficiency and Clean Production" project.

Diana Badeyan was awarded in "Youth in Climate Action" category for "Future Leaders Program" project.

Congratulating all the participants and winners Diana Harutyunyan mentioned. "Today's winners will be included in the jury for next year. There must be a relay."
