Ecolur Presented Legislative and Institutional Proposals To RA Prime Minister and Ministers Regarding Climate and Energy Sectors

"EcoLur" Informational NGO sent RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, RA Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Gnel Sanosyan, RA Environment Minister Hakob Simidyan, RA Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan and RA Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan the package of legislative and institutional recommendations for introducing a culture of socially and environmentally responsible practices in energy and climate change policies.

"EcoLur" has developed the recommendations within the framework of “Impacted communities and civil society organizations as participants in the introduction of socio-ecological culture in the energy and climate change policies of Armenia” project, which was supported by UNDP/GEF Small Grants Program and "EUClimate" regional program.

The goal of the project is to contribute to the localization of Armenia's energy and climate change policies, to develop legislative and institutional recommendations for the legal regulation of community-based issues in communities, which will also contribute to the introduction of a culture of socially and environmentally responsible practices in energy and climate change policies.

The studies carried out by "EcoLur" in 2023-2024 have shown that the climate change and energy policies implemented in Armenia are not sufficient in localized communities, which are the direct bearers of these policies. 15 proposals for legislative and sub-legislative amendments were developed for the settlement of the problems. Target communities are as follows: energy and climate resilience policy implementation measures have been developed for Talin in Aragatsotn Region, Dilijan in Tavush Region, Yeghegis in Vayots Dzor Region, and Pambak in Lori marz consolidated communities, which are summarized in 4 separate modules.

The package of legislative and institutional recommendations on the implementation of a culture of socially and environmentally responsible practices in energy and climate change policies can be found here.
