On 22 October the animal protectors held a protest demonstration in front of the government building against the slaughter of the wolves. With “Wolf – Integral Part of Nature and Humans”, “Wolf - Guarantee for Healthy Nature”, “Save Wolves” slogans the animal protectors were urging Armenian PM Hovik Abrahamyan to review the governmental resolution on the killing of the wolves.

Reminder: The government reached a resolution to allot 20 million AMD to Nature Protection Ministry for killing 200 wolves.

Environmentalist Silva Adamyan mentioned they had sent a letter to PM for the solution to the problem, but no reply so far.

Alexander Ghazaryan, Department Head for Reception of Citizens and Discussion of Petitions of Staff of the Armenian Government, was watching the protest demonstration:

EcoLur: The environmentalists are demanding from the government to review its resolution and to take measures instead of killing wolves for wolves to return to their natural habitat.

Alexander Ghazaryan: Just now Wolves Union Chairman called us and said we need no protection.

EcoLur: Is it a joke or serious?

Alexander Ghazaryan: What serious? What does the protection of wolves mean? Are you serious? Wolves attack our residential areas?

EcoLur: There are certain proposals. Don’t you want to listen to them?

Alexander Ghazaryan: Say yours.

EcoLur: Whether it’s not possible to take other measures instead of killing wolves so as the wolves are able to feed naturally in their habitat.

Alexander Ghazaryan: You do it, organize it.

EcoLur: What should government do then?
