The RA Ministry of Nature Protection in the process of expertise on the environmental impact of the "Sevan young trout farm" project will take into consideration the issues about the project raised in EcoLur's opinion. Khazhak Aghabekyan, acting head of the staff at the RA Ministry of Nature Protection informed EcoLur about this by official letter.
Though the project is still under expertise and it’s not clear what conclusion the RA Ministry of Nature Protection will give to the project, Rafik Grigoryan, governor of Gegharkunik region, on November 11 in his interview with journalists was discussing the process of the fish farm project. "That project has already begun, a contest for construction works took place. The winner organization is already known, and the land works will have been over by the end of the year. The rest of the works will begin in 2015 and I am sure that in 2015 they will be over and we'll have a modern fish farm with its incubator", said Rafik Grigoryan.
It's planned by the "Complex program on artificial trout breeding in Lake Sevan" that until 2023 74 net cages will be installed in Lake Sevan with 668 ton of productivity each, which will occupy 36.5 ha of area.
