After Ecolur has published the article entitled “Who Needs Mayor’s Assignments, If Trees Have Already Been Felled” (http://www.ecolur.org/hy/news/electionspoliticsecology/who-needs-mayorvs-assignments-if-trees-have-already-been-felled/4609/), there were certain responses to it. Based on this article, “Dalma Sona” Fund Chairman Ruzanna Kazaryan has addressed an open letter to Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan on her FB page, which says: “My greeting to you, Mr. Margaryan. I think you are aware of the situation mentioned in this article, as you have assignments on administrative fines. Nevertheless, I hope you won’t limit yourself with the charge of small amounts of this administrative fine. This is an action (to say mildly), which can’t be left unpunished, where everybody shall be punished, both tree fellers and the person who ordered to fell trees, the person who permitted to fell trees and especially those who should have controlled all this process, but remained negligent.
I do remember we listened to the speeches of the best specialists in the republic at the first meeting of the Environmental Committee by the Yerevan Municipality about the greening process in Yerevan and it was particularly outlined that which trees are more suitable for the climatic conditions of Yerevan. We spoke about such tree species as poplars, pine trees, oak trees etc, but Thuja tree species was not in this list. Such a promotion of Thuja makes us think that the authorities support a certain individual’s interest directly leading to the idea of money laundering and corruption…
Dear Mr. Margaryan, the response will be adequate: first of all, we will learn about the worth punish of all the people guilty of the act mentioned in this article, and secondly, people won’t eye witness something like that in Yerevan streets. It’s a good thing, that the youth has woken up of 20-year-long sleep and now has become the owner of its own city.”
