"Social and Ecological Responsibility" Project Launched in Lori, Gegharkounik and Syunik Regions

Within the framework of "Data for Accountable and Transparent Action" (DATA) project, "Social and Ecological Responsibility" project was launched on June 15, 2021, aimed at introducing social and ecological policy in 6 communities in Lori, Gegharkunik and Syunik Regions. The project will contribute to the identification and reduction of environmental risks in communities, increase the participation of civil society in local self-government bodies (LSG bodies), increase the transparency and accountability of local self-government bodies and businesses, and promote the development of a green economy.

The project is implemented by the Socio-Ecological Consortium in the partnership with "Community Mobilization and Support Center", "Martuni Women's Community Council", "New Horizons", "EcoLur", and "Forests of Armenia" NGOs.

The project will be implemented in Akhtala and Odzun in Lori Region, Goris and Sisian in Syunik Region, Geghamasar and Verin Getashen Communities in Gegharkunik Region, which have been negatively impacted by mining, small hydropower and other sectors.

Communities do not have a developed socio-ecological policy, effective tools for its development, five-year-long development programs lack a component of socio-ecological development.

In order to achieve the goals, it is planned to develop a format for the collection of socio-ecological risks of communities, their problems and priorities, to identify needs, and to involve all stakeholders in local self-government, civil society, youth, government agencies, business and the media.

“Data for Accountable and Transparent Action” (DATA) project is implemented by Eurasia Partnership Foundation (EPF) in a consortium with SOCIES Expert Centre NGO (Socies), Boon TV Foundation (Boon TV), Youth Cooperation Center of Dilijan NGO (YCCD) and Sose Women Issues NGO (Sose) co-created with and supported by United States Agency for International Development.

The Data for Accountable and Transparent Action (DATA) project is made possible by the generous support of the American People through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The contents of DATA Project are the sole responsibility of “Community Mobilization and Suppert Center” NGO and do not necessarily reflect the views of USAID, EPF, and DATA Consortium.
