With Support of EU Project,  Energy-efficient Heating Devices and Stoves Being Developed in Armenia

On the 27th of November, within the framework of the “EU4Energy Efficiency and
Renewable Energy in Armenian Communities” project, funded by the European Union (EU) and
the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and
implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH as a
part of the “ ECOserve ” programme, with the aim to provide communities and households with
better access to energy efficiency and sustainable energy solutions, thereby contributing to the
improvement of energy security of the rural population and natural resources conservation, a
field visit to Zovaber village of Gegharkunik marz was organized.

During the visit, the representatives of the partner ministries ( RA MoTAI RA MoEnv, RA
MoE) and organizations got acquainted with the energy efficiency and technical characteristics
of locally produced single-point stoves and local heating boilers using solid biofuel, discussed
the preliminary results of the evaluation, the future of the evaluation stand, the expanded
version of the improved models of the stoves, further investment/promotion opportunities, the
process of approving technical conditions for heating devices, opportunities to promote
alternative biofuels: cultivation of agricultural crops for agricultural and energy purposes, the
efficiency of stoves, the importance of compliance with national standards, existing legislative
gaps and importance of legislative reforms and next steps.
