Solar power plants with capacities ranging from 3 to 150 kW have been installed, totaling an installed capacity of 1600 kilowatts in 101 buildings across Lori, Tavush, Shirak, Gegharkunik, and Syunik Regions, including kindergartens, community centers, cultural houses, healthcare facilities, and other structures. Specifically, 150 kW power plants have been installed in medical centers in Sevan, Ijevan, Gavar, and Martuni. The activities have been carried out within the framework of " EU4Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in Armenian Communities" project, which has a total budget of 2.8 million Euros. Solar water heaters have been installed in numerous buildings, and energy efficiency measures have been implemented, including thermal insulation of roofs and basements, and the installation of energy-efficient doors and windows. Energy-efficient stoves have been provided to 688 families, vulnerable households free of charge, while others interested have been offered on a co-financing basis. As a result of the measures implemented by the project, carbon dioxide emissions have decreased by more than 2600 tons annually. Consequently, more than 1350 cubic meters of firewood will be saved annually, and more than 10.5 hectares of forest will be preserved.
The final workshop of the project took place on March 26, 2025. Project Lead Alla Berberian, presenting the outcomes of the Project, said: "The Project has been implemented in energy-challenged communities, ensuring better access to energy efficiency and renewable energy, contributing to the improvement of energy security for the rural population and the conservation of natural resources."
Head of Local Self-Government Policy Department of Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Ashot Giloyan noted that the funds saved due to project activities are spent by the community in other directions.
