“For us, synchronizing our power grids with all four of our neighbors is a priority, and there are no technical obstacles to this,” David Khudatyan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia, stated during the press conference held on 3 February.
“This is not only of commercial significance, in terms of imports and exports, but also contributes to system stability-just as Armenia’s power system currently provides stability to Georgia’s power system and vice versa, and likewise Armenia’s power system provides stability to the power system of the Islamic Republic of Iran and vice versa,” Khudatyan said.
The Minister emphasized that there are no technical barriers to connecting the power systems. “As for the remaining aspects, I hope there will be developments, and we are ready for them. We have no concerns regarding Iran. We have excellent cooperation in the energy sector. Over the past year, we have supplied stable electricity to Iran and, in return, received gas,” he noted.
Reminder: recently, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated in the National Assembly that the energy systems of Armenia and Azerbaijan will be interconnected and will mutually benefit from both export and import opportunities under the same conditions.
