On February 21 a meeting was held at the Aarhus Center between state and public bodies, which was devoted to illegal felling. “Progress” LLC President Geghetsik Ghulakyan said: “I’m informed that in many cases the forestry officer takes money and allows tree felling.”

Forestry officers said, 8000 houses use wood for heating only in the territory of Ijevan Forestry Officer. “They are entitled only to 2000cubic meters of sanitary felling per year. We sell wood to people at a price of 1200 AMD for one cubic meter, and in our opinion, it would be better if this price will be reduced for people living near the boundary,” said forestry officers  substantiating their words by the fact that the people can’t afford to pay even these sums.
