On 29 June the employees of 'Center for Forest State Monitoring' SNCO detected dozens of wind-fallen trees in Getashen forestry enterprise in Tavush Region. 'The satellite images showed changes in this section. We will submit the fixed changes to 'ArmForest' and Agriculture Minister....According to Agriculture Minister's resolution, all these trees will be numbered, sealed and taken out of the forest so as to support the reduction in the number of the trees to be felled down this year,' said Aram Gyulkhasyan from 'Center for Forest State Monitoring' SNCO in his interview with EcoLur.
RA Chief Forester Ruben Petrosyan said that the taking out of wand-fallen trees out of the forest is a serious problem because of the absence of any up-to-date machinery, 'If the fallen trees stay long in this state, they will decay and become non-usable for the timber. They can also serve as construction materials, and here the losses are rather large. Whatever is possible to realize, will be realized, while the received funds go to 'ArmForest' and are spent on our needs. Those trees, which can't be taken out, will be provided to people as fallen deadwood,' Ruben Petrosyan said and added planting new trees instead of fallen trees will require serious financial investment, which ArmForest can't afford.
