Aram Harutyunyan Being Reported About “Ler Ex” Accident and Geghi River Pollution

Nature Protection Minister Aram Harutyunyan held a consultation to increase the efficiency of departmental functions of the ministry. Levon Petrosyan, Head of Syunik Regional Division of State Environmental Inspection, reported that the accident occurred at “Ler-EX” CJSC, when the wastes got mixed with the water of Geghi River, Syunik Region, was recorded, and the Ministry has imposed proper sanctions. Having listened to the report the Nature Protection Minister instructed to enhance environmental requirement fulfillment in mining companies and to present substantiation to conduct examinations in such business entities to exclude such cases in future, as Information and Public Relations Department of Territorial Administration Ministry informs. Under the official information, the employees of Syunik Regional Division of State Environmental Inspection estimated damage of 178,500 AMD caused to nature because of polluting the Odabara tributary to the Geghi River with the industrial wastes of “Ler Ex” Company.
