On 15 October, the meeting of Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan and Vallex Group Company Chairman Valeriy Mejlumyan was held in Yerevan, as “Armenian Copper Program” Company Director Lusine Mejlumyan informed through a video message. “During the meeting the situation around the plant, as well as possible ways of solution were discussed. No certain promise or decision was recorded in the course of the yesterday’s meeting. It is planned to have another meeting during this week to have more subject-matter discussions. I would also like to inform that at this moment no employee of “Armenian Copper Program” Company received a letter on dismissal.”
“Armenian Copper Program” CJSC is a part of Vallex Group Company, which develops Alaverdi copper smelting program in Alaverdi Town in Lori Region.
It should be mentioned that EcoLur had sent an enquiry to Ministry for Emergency States requesting to inform about the results of the inspections at ACP Company in line with the working plan of State Fire and Technical Safety Inspection of MES RA for 2018.
In reply, MES Chief Secretary Vahagn Ohanyan informed in his letter N 7/23.1/12444 18 dated on 15.10.2018 that no inspections have been carried out in the company, as it was found out during the initial visits that the operations of “Armenian Copper Program” are in the stage of cessation. In this regard, the MES sent EcoLur the report by Head of Lori Regional Department of State Fire and Technical Safety Inspection of MES RA, which says: “ Reporting that in the third quarter of the working plan of State Fire and Technical Safety Inspection of MES RA for 2018 an inspection to “Armenian Copper Program” CJSC was planned and, in this regard, I and Chief Specialist of Department R. Ter-Harutyunyan visited “Armenian Copper Program” CJSC in Alaverdi on 18 September to examine in place whether or not the company is operating. The examination showed that the operation of the plant will be stopped in future, while the employees have already received warning, while some employees have handed in resignation letters. Taking into consideration this fact we can’t carry out an inspection in “Armenian Copper Program” CJSC. Waiting for your instructions.”
