Despite the boycott by local residents, Vayk Gold LLC still claims to openly exploit the Azatek gold-polymetallic mine located in the administrative districts of Vayots Dzor and Zaritap communities, Vayots Dzor Region. Company Director Hovhannisyan has applied to Zaritap Community Head Simon Babayan with a request to ensure participation in the public hearings to be held. The public hearings on company preliminary evaluation project are scheduled on November 21 at 12:00 pm at Vayk Municipality building.
A reminder: on September 3, the residents of Vayk community, Vayots Dzor Region, boycotted the public hearings of "Vayk Gold" LLC and rejected the application to open Azatek gold polymetallic mine in the administrative areas of Vayk and Zaritap communities.
It should also be added that in November 2018, the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia instigated a criminal case on the grounds of illegal mining of gold, silver and copper from Azatek mine in Vayots Dzor Region in the amount of 250 million AMD in November 2018.
