RA Prosecutor's Office Initiated Investigation on Continuous Impact of Nahatak Tailing Dump on Environment and Human Health

The Department for the Protection of State Interests of RA Prosecutor General's Office has initiated an investigation based on the application filed by “Community Mobilization and Assistance Center” NGO on the continuous impact of Nahakak Tailing Dump on the environment and human health, as Vahe Rafayelyan, Head of Department for the Protection of State Interests of RA Prosecutor General's Office, informed “Community Mobilization and Assistance Center” NGO on March 20, 2020, with his letter 30/30.2/11770-2020.

“Community Mobilization and Assistance Center” NGO sent to RA Prosecutor General's Office the verdict of Public Environmental Court on the continuous impact of Nahakak Tailing Dump on the environment and human health.

The public litigation of this case took place on February 26, 2020. The Public Environmental Court ruled to recognize the violations related to the granting of permits to Nahatak Tailing Dump, its non-conservation and non-reclaiming, the offences in regard to its control and monitoring that have led to environmental disaster and socio-economic crisis in Armenia and the region, harmed human health, as a crime directed against the state.
