The legislative initiative of RA Environment Ministry will clarify the environmental programs that the communities can implement with the environmental taxes paid by the companies.
On April 27, RA NA Standing Committee on Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environment Protection issued a positive conclusion to the draft law "On Making Amendments to e Law on Targeted Use of Environmental Tax Paid by Companies."
According to the draft law, the list of companies having an impact on the air, water and land areas will be defined by RA Environment Ministry every year, except for the companies having the right to develop metal mines. It depends on the list of companies which communities will be able to benefit from the subsidies. It should be noted that under the current law, these companies are mentioned in the law.
It should be noted that during the meetings with EcoLur, the representatives of the local self-government bodies of the affected communities have repeatedly stated that the subsidy sums arising from the environmental taxes of the companies are small, so it is not possible to implement serious environmental projects.
