The public hearings planned by "ASSAT" LLC regarding the expansion project of Qaraberd gold mine on November 4, 2022 were not held in Pambak community hall. Residents of the villages affected by the mine and environmentalists expressed their opposition to the company's activities by blocking the entrance to the community hall and not allowing the company's representatives to enter the building.
The company planned to hold public discussions of the EIAs of "Geological prospecting implementation plan for 2022-2025 in the eastern and southern wings of the central site of Qaraberd gold mine in Lori region, Republic of Armenia", extension of "Ore-enriching factory project of Chinese eco-technology " and "Central site mining project" projects.
"ASSAT" LLC has been operating Qaraberd gold mine with certain intervals since 2012.
Relevant minutes were drawn up in the municipality regarding the non-holding of the public hearings.
