33 settlements in 6 affected communities will receive money from royalties paid by metal mining companies RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure (TAI) has published the list of communities in accordance with Decree N16-N of September 26, 2022, signed by TAI Minister Gnel Sanosyan.
It should be noted that according to the legislative amendments adopted in 2022, 2 percent of the royalties paid by companies operating metal mines will be allocated to the budget of the affected communities. Affected communities will be able to use their allocated funds until 2024.
According to decision N1370-N approved by the Government of the Republic of Armenia on September 1, 2022, nine directions of activities provided by the program of spending of community deductions have been defined, which are presented in order of priority:
1) agriculture
2) education and science
3) healthcare
4) social security
5) culture, sports and youth employment
6) urban planning
7) water supply and drainage
8) transport and road construction
9) tourism.
Thus, the settlements of Qajaran community and Kapan community will benefit from the royalties paid by "Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine" CJSC.
Agarak, Meghri, Kartchevan, Kuris and Gudemnis settlements of Meghri community will receive from "Agarak CMC" CJSC. "Kapan Ore Dressing Plant" CJSC also has one affected community, Kapan, which includes Kapan, Geghanush, Syunik and Atchanan settlements, which will be able to submit programs to use royalties.
In Lori Region, Alaverdi consolidated community will be able to use the royalties in 2024, where Shnogh and Teghut and Shamlugh and Tchotchkan settlements are affected by "Teghut" and "Akhtala Mining Combine" CJSCs, respectively.
Sotq, Kutavan, Kakhak and Tretuk settlements of Vardenis municipality, Gegharkunik Region, will receive part of the royalties paid by "Geopromining Gold" LLC, whereas Meghradzor, Artavaz, Marmarik and Aghvanadzor settlements of Tsaghkadzor community, Kotayk Region, will receive from "Meghradzor Gold" LLC.
