“ZCMC” CJSC Employees' Protest and Company's Reaction

Hundreds of employees of Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine CJSC, the largest miner of Armenia, started a protest action on January 31, 2025, and did not go to work. They demand a salary increase and improvement of working conditions. “ZCMC” CJSC and ““ZCMC” CJSC trade union describe the actions of employees as “illegal actions”. The participants of the action initiated a signature collection through ballots.

“ZCMC” CJSC has distributed a message stating:

“Now, the average salary at ZCMC exceeds all indicators of the sector. The average salary in Syunik Region is the second after the capital, which is due to the activity of the sector, particularly “ZCMC.

All employees of “ZCMC (including workers) and their family members, including parents, are provided with health insurance, the Company finances social programs within the framework of large-scale social programs.

The number of employees involved in unauthorized operations does not exceed 7-8% of the total number of employees of the Company. The union does not support these actions, considering them illegal, and does not consider them as a strike. In the interests of “ZCMC” CJSC and most of its employees, the company considers it its right to hold the violators accountable within the framework of legal processes.

“ZCMC” CJSC employs over 4,600 people”.
